He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Schmidt and Rosalia Schmidt; his siblings, Robert Schmidt (Nancy), Barb Schuler, Tom Schmidt and Mary Fischer (Len); and his brothers-in-law, Don McDonald, Tom Chisholm and Clarence Anstett.

He is survived by: his wife Ann; his children, Laurie Kreller (Doug) of Caledon, Neil (Sweety) of Hanover and Greg (Christie) of Walkerton; his grandchildren, Jason, Jenn (Mike), Jordan, Taylor, Brooklyn, Jeevan, Dylan, Korson, Liberty and Katelyn; his siblings, Jackie Anstett of Waterloo, Monica Heisz (Frank) of London, Carol McDonald of Nova Scotia, Kitty Chisholm of Walkerton and Bill (Maureen) of Walkerton; and his siblings-in-law, Frank Schuler of Mildmay and Betty Schmidt of Walkerton.
