He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Susan Hayes; and his siblings, Nathanial, William, Earl, Charles, Agnes Bushell, Sam, James, George, Marie Wonch, Beatrice Nivins, Nellie, Nelson and Alice.
He is survived by: his spouse Patricia Hayes; his children, Mike Hayes of Riversdale, Dale Hayes (Joan) of Teeswater and Brad Hayes (Jennifer) of Hanover; his grandchildren, J. J., Chris, Shayna, Daryl, Kelsey, Brandon, Brittney, Katie, Kyle and Ryan; his siblings, Burton Hayes (Judy) of Kincardine and Alvery Hayes (Marg) of Lucknow; and his siblings-in-law, Allie Hayes of Kincardine, Marion Hayes of Goderich and Alex Nivins of Nile. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
