He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Mercey and Ellen Mercey (Holden); and his brothers-in-law, John Dekruyf and Royal Ottman. He is survived by: his spouse Pat (Eby); his children, Cathy Harron (Andy) of Hanover, Kim Wettlaufer (Dennis) of Hanover, Michele Cassidy of Guelph and David Mercey (Kelly) of Welland; his grandchildren, Brandy Lester (Shane), Jennifer Green (Jeff), Todd Cassidy, Derek Wettlaufer (Claire), Daniel Cassidy (Hose), Branden Mercey (Zoe), Jarred Mercey, Rehgyn Mercey, Jakob Harron (Sadie) and Sheldon (Dani); his great grandchildren, Tyson, Emmerson, Tava, Reid, Jaxx, Emma and Frank; and his sisters, Joan Dekruyf of Orillia and Janet Ottman of Kitchener.

Then the pandemic hit, and everyone's life was turned upside down. Like most of us, the pandemic brought many challenges and the isolation was difficult for Doug.
