He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Plakholm and Rita Plakholm; his parents-in-law, Grant and Gladys Greenwood; and his sister-in-law Anne Greenwood.

He is survived by: his wife Lynda; his children, Michelle Preston, Ben Plakholm (Tracy), Bill Plakholm (Amanda) and Aaron Plakholm (Janine); his grandchildren, Ashlee, Jared, Celeigh, Elizabeth, Mogilny, Nikki, Emily, Payton, Daynan, Zuri and Rory; his great grandchildren, Icy and Averee; his siblings, Paul (Donna Plakholm), Brenda Plakholm, Mary (John Fritz), Mike (Aimee Plakholm) and Philip (Gabi Plakholm); and his brothers-in-law, Grant Greenwood and Dennis Greenwood. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
