James Robert Layne Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Jim 'Dizzy' Layne. Jim passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Sunday February 9th, surrounded by his loved ones, following a brief illness. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, leaving a legacy of love and laughter.
Jim's greatest joys were his days spent on the golf course, cheering on his grandson at his sporting events, and embarking on culinary adventures in the kitchen. He treasured family gatherings filled with delicious food, laughter, and good company. Throughout his life, Dizzy enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career in sales within the steel industry.
Jim will be profoundly missed by his adoring wife of 55 years, Diane; his beloved children, Michael (Tracy) and Julie-Anne; and his cherished grandson, Tate. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law, Peter Rogers (Key), sister-in-law, Josie Rogers, and many nieces and nephews: Lisa, Andrea, Leanne (Patrick), Noah, Carter, Mickey (Ellen), Ron (Lyn), Jerry (Pam), John (Carol), Larry (Lynn), and Joe (Trish).
Jim is now reunited with his parents, John and Elizabeth D'zvigola, his sister Helen Weiner (Joe), his brother Jerry Layne (Maude), and his brother-in-law Paul Rogers.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the healthcare professionals at Juravinski Hospital, who provided exceptional care during Jim's final days.
Arrangements are entrusted to P.X. Dermody Funeral Home. As per Jim's wishes, cremation will take place, followed by a celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Good Shepherd of Hamilton or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. Jim's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family has chosen to send donations to Heart & Stroke FoundationDonate Now (https://www.heartandstroke.ca).
