He was predeceased by: his brother Ivan Johnston (Linda); and his son Alan Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his sisters, Dianne Chopp (Joe) and Carol Petrullo (Chuck); his children, Sandra Moir and Bill Johnston (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Kellie Sweeney (Andrew), Theresa Johnston and Kirk Johnston (Rachel); and his great grandchildren, Callie, Owen, Harrison and Cayson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
