Sandra Elaine Rainey (nee Vincent).
Sandra Rainey passed away on Christmas Eve in the loving presence of her husband, 5 daughters and a son-in-law at The Elliott Community in Guelph after a long battle with dementia. Sandra was born in London, England and immigrated with her family to London, Ontario in 1951. She went on to become an elementary teacher.
A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Sandra loved her family above all else. Predeceased by her beloved grandsons Andrew Peterson and Matthew Egler, her niece and nephew Angela and Christopher Shannon, and her parents Eileen and Cyril Vincent, Sandra's legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband of 65 years, The Reverend Canon William Rainey; her daughters Kaitlin (Glen Strathy) of Kingston, Maureen (Brad Lucas) of Toronto, Julia (Jonathan Peterson) of Fergus, Lauren (Scott Egler) of Elgin, Illinois and Suzanne (David Dean) of Barrie; her grandchildren Jillian Strathy, Benjamin Peterson, Rebecca Brinston (Sean), Michael, Adam and Ashley Egler, Christopher and Samantha Dean; and her great-grandchildren Chase, Levi and Cole Brinston and Mary-Jane Dean. She will also be missed by her sisters Linda (Tom Leadston) and Nicola (Joseph Marques) and fondly remembered by her nephews and nieces.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to staff at The Elliott Community, where Sandra lived for her last 4 years. A funeral service will be held at Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi St., Guelph on Saturday, December 30 at 11am. During the hour before the service, there will be visitation with Sandra's family. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated.
