He was predeceased by: his spouse Gaétane Paquette (Besner); his parents, Joseph and Émilie; and his siblings, Gérald (Claire) and Marina Garreau (late Germain).

He is survived by: his sons, André (Anne-Marie) and Robert (Liette); his grandchildren, Maxime (Audrey), Miryam (Rafik), Jonathan (Marie-Josée), Isabelle (Alexandre) and David (Karyanne); his great grandchildren, Daphney and Adam; and his siblings, Wilfrid (Lucille), Noëlla Chénier (late Aurèle), Dorina Massie (late Lionel), Alice Dubeau (Donald Besner), Léo (Noëlla), Rolland, Pauline Leroux (Claude) and Marcel (Gabrielle). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends.

Memorial donations to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
