Robert Hnatyshyn wrote a sympathy message

“John was one of the station operators on my platoon at 21 Division. We became good friends and when he retired he moved to Gravenhurst. I visited him and Grace at their home and they also came to my cottage a few times. John told me about his days in the 60's playing guitar in a band . He was one of the best for sure. I spoke with him while he was in the hospital and it was one of the toughest conversations I have ever had. You will be missed.”

Wayne Lawrie wrote a sympathy message

“We were next door neighbours to John for many years. John and I spent a lot of time together, cutting grass and chatting, blowing snow and chatting, digging in the garden and chatting , maybe more chatting than work. My fondest memories of John was on the golf course, He was a strong player with a soft touch. Kid of like his personality. Grace, we’re are so sorry. Alana & Wayne”

Gail Nicholson wrote a sympathy message

“I was disheartened to hear of Johns passing. I was the Administrator at 21 Division and was fortunate enough to get to know him. He was a kind and caring person, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge with new staff and veterans as well. John was well respected by his platoon and other members of our unit. A gentleman. He will truly be missed I’m sure. Sincere condolences to Johns family during this difficult time.”

“I’m so saddened to hear of the passing of John. I was also a Police Officer in Toronto. When I met John he was a Station Duty officer, working for a Staff Sergeant with a platoon of officers. He was a very knowledgeable officer who mentored younger officers and was the right hand of the platoon Staff Sergeant. John was a kind, thoughtful man well respected by his peers and senior officers. Im so sorry such a good man has been taken from his family.. May John Rest In Peace.”
