He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sandy and August; his brother Freddie; his wife Dorothy Henrietta Birnie (Booth); his children, Jan Birnie and John Birnie; his grandsons, Robert Birnie (Bethany), James Birnie (Amanda) and Daniel Birnie (Chelsea); his great grandchildren, Audrey, Julian, Cora, Jillian and Jordan; his brother Frederick Birnie; his nephews, David and Alan Birnie; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Taine and Keiran Birnie.
