He was predeceased by: his sons, Harry (Connie Smits) and Peter Smits; and his parents, Johannes and Johanna. He is survived by: his spouse Francina "Sien" Hendrica Smits (Martens) of Grand Bend; and his children, John (Rita Smits), Pete (Pat Smits), Margaret (Gregg Ennett) and Joanne (Andrew Clark). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews.
