He was predeceased by: his wife Marlene Cousins; his parents, Howard Black and Edna Black; his siblings, Margaret Stanley, Betty Doherty and Ron Black; and his siblings-in-law, Doug Vance, Ray Stanley and Margaret (Darcy Olivier).

He is survived by: his children, Darryl, Kristen Black, Stephanie and Matt Dalke.
