He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Allan; his parents, Winnifred Allan and Robert Allan; and his siblings, Betty Rainville (Ron), Dorothy Dozak, Jimmy Reece and Clyde Allan.

He is survived by: his children, Anne Denys (Stephen), Jim (Michael Kennedy), John (Sara Mimick) and Denys; his grandchildren, Anna, Craig (Emma Richards) and Maggie; his siblings-in-law, Ruth Stauttener (Tony), Bonnie DeDecker (Andre), Dianne Brickwell (Jim) and Ken Dozak; and his friends, Val Presseault, Jane, Bruce Holmes, Gordon Porter, Bill Irwin and John Dehowiski. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
