He was predeceased by: his spouse Loretta (Martin); his parents, James Doherty and Mary Doherty (Kelly); his siblings, Jim, Frank, John, Ann Berry of Canada and Mary Maize of Canada; and his half-sisters, Mary Catherine Rankin of Northern Ireland and Sarah O'Mullin of Northern Ireland.
He is survived by: his children, Joanne of Goderich, Anita Davies of Huron Park, Blaise (Joanne) of Waterdown and Mark (Jacqui) of Calgary; and his siblings, Rita Tigert and Stan Doherty. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
