He was predeceased by: his wife Betty; his son Michael; his parents, Alexander Marshall and Gladys Marshall (Thompson); and his sister Diane.

He is survived by: his children, Jack (Susan) and Kimberly (Perry); his daughter-in-law Cathy; his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Katie), Justin (Krista), Melissa (Mike), Rachel, Sarah and Genevieve; his great grandchildren, Hailey, Jaxson, Myles, Emily and Alexis; his sister Eleanor; and his siblings-in-law, Ken (Ann) and Toots. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“Dear Miller Family, I was severely grieved when I heard of Avard’s passing. We just saw him in June and he was so glad to see Rachel and I. We wanted to attend his celebration of life but are unable to at this time. He told me so many stories and things from his life that I will cherish always. Avard and Betty were so good to me in the years that I had known them. Avard was like a father to me and I am going to miss him dearly. Rachel and I send our deepest condolences to y’all from Texas.”
