He is survived by: his parent Edith Bates; his spouse Carol; his child Daniel Bates; his grandchild Chanda McCool; his great grandchild Evelyn McCool; his siblings-in-law, Jim Mitchell (Sharon), Glen Spencer (Linda) and Lois Spencer; and his niece Debbie Howard (Lloyd).
