He was predeceased by: his wife Anna (Wouters). He is survived by: his children, Paul (Cindy), Rita Smits (John), Elsie Devet (Frank), Danny (Rita) and Andre (Kathy); his grandchildren, Angie Kosturek (Chris), Ashley King (Ryan), Michelle Thompson (John), Mark Smits (Nida), Greg Devet (Kim), Carla Leclerc (Fred), Laura Pastirik (Pete), Jennifer Rutledge (Jeff), Jeff Soetemans (Michelle), Karl Soetemans (Jenny), Jason Soetemans (Leah), Brendon, Bryan, Tyler and Julia Soetemans; his sisters, Maria DeSchutter (Nand), Rosa DeVoght and Gusta Smits (Staaf); and his sisters-in-law, Julia VanDen Brande, Martha Peeters (Louis), Rosa Verheyen and Simone Wouters (Frans). He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
