He was predeceased by: his son Ron Mergl (June); his grandson Ethan; his parents, Anton Mergl and Mary Mergl; and his sisters, Mary Doddridge and Anne Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia (Haist); his children, Sheryl VanAlstine (Jamie), Darlene Mergl Moore (George), Carolyn Janzen (Tom) and Brent Mergl (Maryann); his grandchildren, Andrew (Sharon), Justin, Joseph Mergl, Connor, Braidon Moore, Lee, Cameron, Austin, Elise Janzen, Jacob and Jenna Mergl; his great grandchildren, Micah and Hannah Mergl; and his sister Beverly Marcov (Jim).
