She was predeceased by: her husband Earl Helmer; her parents, Arthur Shay and Rhoda Shay; and her sisters, Dorothea Hanes, Doreen Duff and Eva Weegar.
She is survived by: her children, Freddie Helmer (Elizabeth) of Ingleside, Gloria Carbino (Winston) of Newington and Marilyn Pilon (Ed) of Long Sault. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
