He is survived by: his son-in-law Chip (Fiona); his grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Breah and Caitlin; his parents, John Beattie and Jeanette Beattie; his siblings, Jack, Elizabeth and Margaret; his wife Patricia; his children, Michael, Joanna (Robert), Fiona (Chip) and Christine (Real); his stepchildren, Cathy (Jay) and Anne (Lance); and his children, Amanda, Joshua, Rachel (Michael), John Robert, James, Peter (Joanna), Daniel (Kayla), Sarah, Breah, Caitlin (Fiona), Maiah, Leah, Cai, Sean (Christine), Judah, Ione (Cathy), Nehemiah and Ellie (Anne).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the 'light project' he set up in Chenuitz, Guatemala where he served for 20 years.
