She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Thomas and Anne Thomas (Dennison); and her husband Jim Carpenter. She is survived by: her children, Heather Sweet (Paul), Jim Carpenter (Denise), Robert Carpenter (Bonnie) and Kathy Carpenter (Dwayne Mullett); her grandchildren, Karenda, Karley, Daryl, Kate, Hayley, Adam, Daniel, Kathaleen and Evan; her great grandchildren, Tamaya, Owen and Liam; her brother George Thomas (Betty); her sister-in-law Joan Marinier; her siblings, Arthur, Roy, Richard, Archie, Alice, Mildred, Pearl, Helen, Elizabeth and Gloria; and her brother-in-law Bill Marinier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bessie's memory to Meals on Wheels or Fergus Horticultural Society.
