He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Barends and Pieter Barends; his brother Pieter; his sister-in-law Linda; and his siblings, Robert and Carol.
He is survived by: his significant other Lori Eden; his stepsons, Chris (Dwayne) and David; and his siblings, John Barends (Bonnie), Gerda Misdorp, Jane White (Charles) and Marie Barends. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.
