He was predeceased by: his parents, Laverne Heywood and Beatrice Heywood (Gerber); his sister Judy Gregoire; and his siblings-in-law, Murray Bell, Lloyd Regier, Lorraine Heywood, Dennis Bierling, Doc Campbell and Helen Redmond.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Heywood (Campbell); his children, Jason, Fae Heywood of Grand Bend and Jayann Heywood (Bill) of London; and his siblings, Ron (Betty Lou Heywood), Donna Regier, Gary (Louise Heywood), Shirley (Ken Simpson), Doug (Joanne Heywood), Bob (Martha Heywood), Dan Heywood (Belinda Sauder), Murray (Dena Heywood), Kate Bierling of Exeter and Jim Redmond of London. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
