She was predeceased by: her husband Marshall Newman; her parents, Hugh Ferguson and Mabel Ferguson; her son Garry; her grandson Doug Carnegie; her siblings, Norma Joyce (late Ledson), Dean Ferguson (late Margaret) and Herald Ferguson (late Ruth); and her brother-in-law Bill Newman (late Marion).

She is survived by: her children, Brad (Jayne), Darlene Carnegie (Douglas) and Betty Newman; and her grandchildren, Chrysty Newman, Tammy Woodcock, Nadine Stapleton, Jennifer Newman, Melony Newman and Bonnie Carnegie-Policella (Ricky). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
