George Calvin Hall Obituary
Mr. George Calvin Hall
It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Calvin Hall (Cal) announce his passing at Glengarry Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the age of 84 years.
He leaves behind his amazing wife, Jacomina Hall (nee Pieren). He was an incredible father to 7 children, Roland (Jessie), Florence, Nancy, Darlene (Gerry), Heather (Ken), Natasha (Valerio), Calvin (predeceased) and loving grandfather to adoring grandchildren Spencer, Austin and Faith. He was a devoted brother to Florence, Katherine, Debbie, Peggy and Tina, and predeceased by Gerald, Lorraine and Walter. He will be remembered by many friends and family across Canada and in the Netherlands.
Cal was born August 17, 1934 to James and Florence Hall (nee Snow) in North River, in the then Republic of Newfoundland. Cal worked incredibly hard for his family; at times held several jobs in order for Jacomina to stay home. He proudly served 28 years in the Canadian Military, and was well known for his cooking skills and his sense of humour—he always had a joke or funny story to tell.
He was happiest laughing, joking, and playing his accordion, harmonica and fiddle. Being a self-taught musician, Alzheimers took his memories, but not his music. He sang songs and played accordion to the last few weeks of his full life.
Our loss is profound.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society (P.O. Box 1852, Cornwall (ON) K6H 6N6, http://www.alzheimer.ca) would be appreciated.
