He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice; his daughter Marian (Ken); his grandchildren, Andrew, Kendra and Nicole; and his sister Beatrice.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Shafer and Dennis (Carol); his grandchildren, Rick, Terry, Shawn, Scott, Mindy and Devin; and his great grandchildren, Lekadia, Kelsey, Rachel, Karson, Reid and Charles.
