He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheldon Melitzer and Imo Melitzer; and his siblings, Roy (Hazel), Ron (Veronica), Bernice Johnston (Dave), Mildred Simpson (Howard) and June Uberig.

He is survived by: his spouse Lorna; his children, Jane of Ingersoll, David of Unionville, Tim and Val of Elmira; his grandchildren, Alissa Melitzer and Emma Melitzer; his sister Vida Geddes of Kitchener; and his brothers-in-law, Doreen Meekis, Elias Meekis, Fern Martin, Eli Martin, Delmar Shulist-Martin, Helen Shulist-Martin, Gerald Martin, Sheila Martin, Merle Martin, Donna Martin and Cam Martin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In Sheldon's memory, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expression of sympathy.
