He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Rose Smallwood; his parents, Dewar Smallwood and Clara Smallwood; and his siblings, Joan, Mary-Jean and Fenton.

He is survived by: his son Greg Smallwood (Susan) of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Chelsea (Mehrtash), Megan, Bryden (Sofia), Jeffrey (Lindsay), Christopher (Heather) and Jessica (Marco); and his great grandchildren, Madison, Owen, Benjamin and Carson. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
