He was predeceased by: his sisters, Connie Harris and Norma Johnston. He is survived by: his spouse Pat Tinkess (Dodge); his daughters, Pam Poelman and Vicky McCreary (Lee); and his siblings, Lois McCartney of Cornwall, Perry Tinkess (Carolyn) of Avonmore and Penny MacNaughton (Danny) of Kingston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
