He was predeceased by: his wife Leona Shepherd; and his parents, George Shepherd and Bernice Shepherd (Farrington). He is survived by: his children, George Jr. of Eden, Shirleen Ottaviano of Port Colborne, Wayne of Springfield and Duncan (Tammy); his grandchildren, Ivan, Olivia, Steven, Amanda and Tyler; and his sister Sharon Smith of Aylmer.

Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the Shepherd family.
