He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Atkinson and Aveon Atkinson-Reay; his stepfather Albert Reay; his grandchildren, Aunna Lee, Abrielle Hope and James Atkinson; his brother John W. Atkinson; and his sisters-in-law, Marion and Heather Atkinson.
He is survived by: his wife Alice Atkinson; his children, Janet Atkinson (Steve Stillaway), Matthew Atkinson (Chrystal) and Michelle Atkinson; his grandchildren, Allyssia Atkinson and Justin Atkinson; his great grandchild Jakob Sedman; his siblings, Shirley Atkinson, George Atkinson (Carol), David Atkinson, Jim Atkinson (Marg), Ellen (Ken Russwurm) and Paul Metzger; and his sister-in-law Tracy-Lynn Schaus-Atkinson. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
Visitation: Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Thursday, November 26th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p. m. Due to Covid-19 protocols masks are required, social distancing must be respected on Funeral Home property and a limited number of people will be allowed inside for visitation at one time.
Reservations: Donations: As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Durham Baptist Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
