He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Backus and Greta Backus; and his siblings, Jim (Elsie), Gary Backus and Marylynn Swarts (Wayne).
He is survived by: his wife Jeannette Backus; the fathers of children, Todd (Lisa) and Kevin (Shannon); his sister Beryl Vickers (Don); his uncle Mait McKeown; and also, Mackenize, Avery, Cohen, Seth and Beckett.
