He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vankoughnett and Dorothy Vankoughnett; and his siblings, Rose McFadden, Carol Kay, Betty McDonald and Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Susan (Hooper); his sons, Jeff (Barb), Herb, George and Danny (Kari); and his siblings, Rita Doom, Theresa Yacks, George and Bill. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
