With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cecil William George Root (Deseronto, Ontario), who passed away on May 25, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Root and Myrtle Root; his son Douglas; his granddaughter Jacqueline; and his brother Eric Root.

He is survived by: his daughters, Vivian Kershaw (John) and Bernice Kerr (Phil); his daughter-in-law Joyce Root; his grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, Andrew, Michael, Robert, Peter, Stephen and Dana; and his siblings, George Root and Mary Stafford.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Friendly Manor Nursing Home or the Lennox & Addington Hospital in memory of Cecil.

“I was sad to hear of cecils passing.He was a dear friend of my mother (Marion Saunderson)and spent many hours at our cottage fishing off the rocks or in the boat.He shared alot of fresh goodness from his beautiful big garden and eggs with us over the years.Cecil was a very joyful man with a great sense of humor.His presence was always welcome and will be sadly missed.We are glad to have met our friend Cecil and have many fond memories of him & his animals.
