She was predeceased by: her daughter Vanessa Nurse of Kingston, Ontario.; her parents, Zena Williams and Frederick Williams; and her stepfather William Donaldson of Halifax. She is survived by: her husband Douglas Connelly; her child Zena Nurse (Patricia); and her grandchildren, Ely and Tristin Lemon-Nurse. She is also survived by cousins, other family members and many friends.

I understand that death is promised, and I am very strong in my faith, but, I was shocked and devastated by the passing of Velma. I was stunned and very sorrowful. She was of tremendous support to me last year when I loss my twin Maxwell and six months later my eldest brother. May she rest in peace. God’s blessings. 🙏🏽❤️”
