He is survived by: his children, Brent Mitchel (Pamela) of Whitby and Marnie Mitchel (Brian Gray) of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Emma, Corinne, Lauren, Daphne Mitchel, Vivienne and Camilla Gray; his sister Maureen Lapointe of Kelowna, BC; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Ann Fleury of Havelock and David Salter of Vernon, BC..
