He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilton McCarthy and Faye McCarthy; his siblings, Tommy McCarthy and Karen Spencer (Jamie) of Ajax, ON; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Broome.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah; his children, Bradley McCarthy of Bowmanville, ON and Carrie-Lynn Morden (Mike) of Port Perry, ON.; his grandchildren, Brooke-Lynn, Caitlyn, Carleigh, Luke and Blake; his brothers, Danny McCarthy (Brenda) of Petawawa, ON, Howard McCarthy of Bowmanville, ON and Patrick McCarthy of Oshawa, ON.; and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Brown (Peter) of Deep River, ON, Sharon Bowers (Tom) of Nova Scotia, Danny Broome (Sharon) of Chalk River, ON, Heather Brownlee (Steve) of Calgary, Bruce Broome of Deep River, ON, Ricky Broome of Ottawa, ON and Robert Broome (Toni) of Chalk River, ON.. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
