He was predeceased by: his wives, Barbara Martene (Koehler) and June Martene (Baldwin); his mother Esther Salmon (Clifford); his grandmother Mary Martene (Becker); and his brothers-in-law, Charlie Tieman, Ron Merner and Brian Hogarth.

He is survived by: his children, Judy Martene of Orangeville, Peter, Tammy Martene of Seaforth, Kari Martene, Joe Ryan of Lucan and Steve Martene of Seaforth; his grandchildren, Jason, Angela, Andrew, Natalie, Nathan, Ryan, Kalen, Jenna, Micheal, Jordan, Chelsea and Nevi; and his sisters, Marie Tieman, RuthAnne Merner, Margaret Hogarth and Eleanor Kwajafa (Adam).
