He was predeceased by: his spouse Shirley Beehler; his parents, Emmett Shane and Josephine Shane; his daughter Cathy Valliant (Ross); and his brothers, Charles, Hubert and Leonard.
He is survived by: his close friend Loretta Chambers; and his children, Deborah Bedard (Rene), Brian (Catharina), Carolyn Herfkens (Theo), Richard (Margaret), Sheldon (Dianne), Sharon Chambers (Darren), Stephen (Rita), Donna Shane-Zandbelt and Charles (Jane). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Donations to the Winchester Hospital or the Cornwall Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
