He was predeceased by: his significant other Donna Jean; his mother Dorothy Mercer; his sister Dorothy Leblanc; and his adoptive parents, Irene Tisdale and Gordon Tisdale.

He is survived by: his close friend Marilyn Bunz; his children, Sabrina Mercer, Michael Mercer (Cortney) of Courtland, Charlene Mercer of Tillsonburg and Valerie Mercer; his grandchildren, Taylor, Breanna, Desmond, Benson, Katelyn and Joey; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Graff (Jo), Bill Graff (Kim) and Jim Leblanc.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society and would be appreciated by the family.
