He was predeceased by: his parents, George Murphy and Hazel Murphy; and his siblings, Elaine, Marjorie, Joan, Audrey, Gerard and Kevin.
He is survived by: his wife Helen (McIlvanney); his children, Connie and Dean; his granddaughter Rachel Greentree (Murphy); and his siblings, Lena, Lois and Tom. He is also survived by his extended family, their husbands, wives and children and much loved by his nieces and nephews.
