He was predeceased by: his spouse Helen Mitchell (Duncan); his parents, John Mitchell and Louisa Mitchell (Forrest); and his siblings, Willy, Allen, Walter, Russell and Louise.
He is survived by: his children, Jim Mitchell (Edna) of Corunna, Suzanne Yates (John) of Sarnia and Brian Mitchell (Suzanne) of Spruce Grove; his grandchildren, Nicholas Yates (Heather) of Barrie, Ian Yates (Mariko) of Osaka, Heather Yates-Pray (Matt Pray) of Wyoming, Brian White of Sarnia and Mike White of Corunna; his great grandchildren, Nina, Jayne, Malcolm, Sara, Karin, George and Jack; and his sibling Myrtle Hull (Jack). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with family and friends being received from 9:30 a.m. until service time.Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph's Hospice, the Corunna Legion Poppy Fund or the Sarnia and District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
