He was predeceased by: his sister Pamela Martelle; and his parents, Richard Barnett and Viola Barnett. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Barnett; his children, Christine Thompson, Carrie McInnis, Matthew Barnett, Apryl Larkin (Kevin) and Kimberly Paquette (Fern); his grandchildren, Jillian, Jack, Theo, Laine, Maylee, Isabelle, Katherine and Charlotte; his sister Shirley Hansen (Leroy); and his sisters-in-law, Debbie Rupert (Ron) and Patty Lynne O'Shaughnessy (Marty).
