He was predeceased by: his parents, Johann Schaffer and Elisabeth Schaffer (Stein). He is survived by: his spouse Gertrude Schaeffer; and his children, Nancy Schaeffer (Albert Touchette) of Cornwall and Caroline Proulx (Michel) of Ottawa.
