He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Tyo and Lea Cholette; and his brothers, Emile Tyo, Raymond Tyo, Robert Tyo and Alexander Tyo.

He is survived by: his children, Stefan Tyo (Lorrie) and Christina Tyo (Michael Mason); his grandchildren, Sharae Tyo and Alyssa Tyo; and his sisters, Madeline Willard (Archie) and Pauline Lapointe (Marc).
