He was predeceased by: his wife Leona Starling; his parents, Alexis Gourrierec and Gilberte Le Gourrierec (Courchesne); and his granddaughter Arlene Stratton. He is survived by: his daughters, Tammy Spears, Danielle Stratton (Blain Carson) and Donna Goldsmith; his grandchildren, Amanda Scott, Kara Spears, Sarah Austin, Melissa Spears, Jesse Spears, Justin Le Gourrierec, Jamie Stratton, Douglas Garland and Patrick Garland; and his sisters, Celine Le Gourrierec and Marianne Joly. He is also survived by his 8 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
