He was predeceased by: his spouse Elvi Phillips (Riutta); his child Elona Petrenko; and his siblings, Reuben, Gordon, Harry and Ellen.

He is survived by: his children, Carol Wing (late Rollie), Charles (Beverly) and John (Sherry); his child-in-law Rick Petrenko; his grandchildren, Jennifer Butler (Mike), Scott Phillips (Angela), Jeffrey Phillips (Jennifer), Justin Phillips (Kristin), Kevin Phillips (Melissa), Erin Petrenko Zapshalla (Stacy), Ryan Petrenko, Beth Serafini (Derek) and Matthew Pentney; his siblings, Beatrice and Robert; and his spouse Elvi Riutta.
