He was predeceased by: his sons, Van (Leslie) and Thom (Barbara); and his parents, Thomas Ritchie Smith and Reta Van Allen. He is survived by: his significant other Wyn; his children, George (Nancy) and Heather (Ian); and his grandchildren, Natalie (Jeff), Ashley (Shaun), Matthew (Susan), Jennifer (Chris), Roger (Inhye), Tristan (Michelle), Cameron (Kya), Amelia (Scott), Stuart (Celia) and Jillian (Angus).
