He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Josephine; his children, Marie Louise (Thomas Dinwoodie), Helen (Nicolas Grobler) and Andrew Vella; his parents, Antonio and Louisa; and his siblings, Victoria Vassallo (William), Emanuel Vella (Sharene) and Rita Vella. He was also cherished by his many nieces, nephews.

As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House or the Alzheimer Society in Louis' memory.
