He was predeceased by: his former wife Donna; and his sister Joyce Jordan (Jim). He is survived by: his wife Joan; his sons, Ian and Scott Carruthers; his stepsons, Michael (Sharon), Kevin (Beverly) and Steven (Cathy); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah and Daniel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Burton Avenue United Church in Barrie or Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House.
